5S Workplace Organisation

This module will provide you with the knowledge to organise your workplace and systems in effective and efficient ways. 5S is a very effective and simple Lean tool that is easy and fast to implement. It is applicable in all working environments such as administration, warehousing, information technology, manufacturing and many more. 5S should be considered as a foundational step in your Lean journey prior to implementing any other Lean tools. You will learn what 5S is and the steps to implement 5S. This enables you to reduce waste within processes and create a safer, efficient, organised and pleasing work environment. Enrol into this module to learn how to apply 5S effectively. The optional Certification for Skills and Knowledge assessment option will require the demonstrated implementation of a 5S system.

Value Stream Mapping

This module will provide you with the skills of Value Stream Mapping; using global standards, to enable you to identify waste within any process. You will discover why and how to use Value Stream Mapping as a useful tool to lead improvement initiatives. This will enable you to streamline processes, reduce lead time and increase the ratio between value adding time and non-value adding time. Everything begins with SEEING waste. Enrol into this module to learn how to use Value Stream Mapping. The optional Certification for Skills and Knowledge assessment option will require the completion of a full value stream map and design.

Kaizen and Continuous Improvement

This module is useful for gathering the knowledge of how to run team based continuous improvements initiatives. Continuous Improvement is the most important Lean method. It drives activities that continuously improve all functions and involve teams. Continuous Improvement aims at eliminating waste, not just once, but as a culture and ongoing cycle. The name ‘Kaizen’ is fitting and means ‘change for the better’ in Japanese. Enrol into this module to learn how to instill a culture of continuous improvements. The optional Certification for Skills and Knowledge assessment option will require running a Kaizen event and setup of a Continuous Improvement Centre.
